Black Bottom Macaroon Bars
An easy to prepare Macaroon cookie bar using a chocolate cake mix for the base.
Black Bottom Macaroon Bars
Base
1 package Devil’s Food or Dark Chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 eggTopping
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1-1/4 cups coconut
1 cup chopped nutsDirections
Heat oven to 350° F. Grease 13×9-inch pan.Combine all base ingredients in large bowl; blend until mixture becomes crumbly. Press mixture evenly into bottom of prepared pan.
Combine condensed milk, vanilla, and egg in medium bowl; beat until well blended. Stir in 1 cup coconut and nuts; mix well. Spoon and spread evenly over base. Sprinkle remaining 1/4-cup coconut over top.
Bake at 350° F. for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown (center may appear loose but will firm up when cooled). Cool completely; cut into bars. Makes 36 bars.
